We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Senior Analytical Chemist within our plant located in Ludington, Michigan.

Essential Functions

Functions that must be performed in order to fulfill Primary Function stated above include:

  • Initiates and plans analytical method development, and validation to support product and raw material specifications, environmental permit monitoring requirements and process monitoring analysis.
  • Fulfill all supervisory responsibilities for lab personnel.
  • Coordinates and plans nonroutine analysis to support manufacturing process troubleshooting efforts with regard to customer concerns, and assists in interpreting the results.
  • Coordinates and plans nonroutine analysis to support TS&D efforts in customer process troubleshooting, product typical properties reports and competitor analysis.
  • Coordinates and plans nonroutine analysis associated with environmental unplanned events.
  • Technical resource for lab technicians.
  • Maintains service contracts on analytical instrumentation.
  • Writes and implements operating discipline for new analytical methods and instruments.
  • Maintains a quality assurance program for the lab.
  • Core User for OxyLIMS.
  • Reactive chemicals reviewer for the management of change process.
  • Backup for the SQF Practioner and FDA Qualified Person roles for the business.
  • Must be able to work with others in a self-directed workforce environment.  Teamwork is an essential competency.
  • Employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
  • Actively support plant and corporate HESS safety programs, objectives, and expectations.
  • Follows the Ludington Guiding Principles.
  • Supports the Food Safety Program and Quality Program. Adheres to FDA requirements.

Education/Certification Requirements

Pre-employment Requirement

  • Bachelor Degree in Chemistry with 5-10 years technically related work experience is required.
  • Knowledge of statistics is desirable.

Other Requirements

  • Certified in FSPCA Preventive Controls for Human Food
