Fire department called to apartment complex.

By Rob Alway, Editor-in-Chief.  LUDINGTON — Ludington Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at Birch Lake Apartments, 922 E. Tinkham Avenue, Monday night. Fire Chief Jerry Funk said the fire was a ceiling fan on fire. Initial dispatch information indicated flames were showing. Funk said firefighters were able to use an extinguisher to put out the fire.

Ludington council expected to increase water rates.

Fountain man is 6th arrested by sheriff this year on sex offender registration violation.

FOUNTAIN — A 23-year-old Fountain man was the latest sex offender who has been arrested in Mason County this year for failure to register. The Mason County Sheriff’s Office, to date in 2015, has conducted 68 random residence checks on sex offenders, which has resulted in six arrests and four additional warrants requested.
