Amber Twp. man receives prison term for tether tampering

LUDINGTON — A 19-year-old Amber Twp. man was sentenced, April 10, in 51st Circuit Court to a minimum of two years in a Michigan Department of Corrections prison for Feb. 3 convictions of tampering with an electronic monitoring device or tether; habitual offender, second conviction; and probation violation.

Devehance Joqui Walker, of 532 W. Hansen Rd., was sentenced to two to three years in prison, with credit for 114 days served in jail, and $198 in fines and costs for the tether tampering and habitual offender convictions. He was sentenced to two to five years in prison, with credit for 396 days served in jail, and $498 in fines and costs for the probation violation conviction. The terms are concurrent.

Walker’s probation stems from a Sept. 10, 2013 conviction of third-degree home invasion, according to his court file. His probation was revoked.
