VICTORY TOWNSHIP — Community members will have an opportunity to help shape the future of the Lincoln River Watershed during a stakeholder meeting hosted by the Mason-Lake Conservation District on June 13.
The meeting, the first in an effort to establish a Lincoln River Watershed Council, will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at Victory Township Hall. Local residents, organizations, municipal representatives and others interested in watershed issues are invited to attend and discuss water quality concerns and opportunities for future collaboration throughout the watershed.
The Lincoln River Watershed covers about 101 square miles of Mason County before draining into Lake Michigan. The watershed includes forests, wetlands, agricultural land, residential areas and recreational resources. Conservation district officials said the council effort is intended to strengthen communication, increase community involvement and support long-term watershed planning.
The stakeholder meeting is part of the Kick-Starting Water Quality in the Lincoln River Watershed project. Participants will learn more about the initiative, share local perspectives and concerns, and help identify priority areas for future watershed restoration efforts.
The project is funded through the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy’s Nonpoint Source Program under assistance agreement No. 2025-0243 awarded to the Mason-Lake Conservation District.
Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by June 12. For more information or to RSVP, contact Julia Place at the Mason-Lake Conservation District at 231-613-4511.
