Thomas Marmon

Thomas Wallace Marmon, 94, celebrated the culmination of his life of living and giving to his family and friends by entering the house of God on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

Thomas was born to Herbert William Walker and Gayle Gilroy on October 11, 1931, in Newark, NJ. He was later adopted by Earl Leroy Marmon and graduated from Ludington High School in 1949. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Louise Cartier on Sept. 8, 1951.

Tom lived a very full life. He owned and ‘managed’ many successful businesses and fostered many special relationships in that time. With his love for life and adventurous spirit, he traveled the world with his late wife, Carolyn. They skied the Alps and toured around Europe on motorcycles. They traveled from Asia to Antarctica and many other worldly places, always revering the wonder of nature. An avid outdoorsman, he hunted the Yukon and Mongolia in the quest for the grand slam of sheep and other big game. He was forever curious, and respected and regarded the beauty of nature. But his favorite place was the family property in Lake County where he grew up.

He is survived by his loving children, Christine Laug (Robert), Kathleen Marmon, Thomas Marmon, David Marmon (Lisa); his grandchildren, Brian Buchanan (Tammy), Eric Buchanan, Gregory Schmidt (Kristen), Bradley Schmidt (Erin), Sarah Marmon and Jason Marmon; his great grandchildren Autumn Buchanan, Dylan Buchanan, Thomas Schmidt and Gianna Schmidt; and sister Ruth (Marmon) King.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. at Grace Funeral Home.

A funeral service for Tom will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 2 p.m. at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington with Rev. Wayne B. Wheeler presiding. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. at the church. Tom will be laid to rest at Pere Marquette Cemetery in Ludington.

Arrangements were entrusted to Grace Funeral Home and Cremation Services. www.GraceCremations.com.
