Beth Hand
LUDINGTON — Mason County Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Beth Hand will be sworn in Friday, May 31, as Mason County prosecuting attorney to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Lauren Kreinbrink.
Judge Susan K. Sniegowski of the 51st Circuit Court recently announced her appointment of Hand. The appointment is for the balance of the current term which ends Dec. 31, 2024.
Hand has served as Mason County’s chief assistant prosecuting attorney since January of 2021. Prior to that position, she served as assistant prosecuting attorney for Oakland County beginning in October of 1992.
Hand will be administered the oath of office Friday. She will assume her duties as Mason County prosecuting attorney immediately following the vacancy of the current prosecutor, which is Saturday June 1.
“I am honored and humbled to receive this appointment,” said Hand. “I have served the citizens of this county for three and a half years, and I look forward to continued service for the remainder of this term. As the chief law enforcement officer of the county, I intend to vigorously and fairly enforce the laws of our state, knowing that justice is always the most important goal.”
Hand lives in Mason County with her husband David.
Kreinbrink announced her resignation last April, stating that she accepted a partnership in the trial law firm of Craig W. Elhart in Traverse City. She was elected to the four-year term in November of 2020, replacing Paul Spaniola, who had retired.
Hand announced her candidacy last March for the Republican nomination for Mason County prosecutor. She is among three candidates who have announced their intention to run for the prosecutor position in the upcoming election. Ludington attorney Becky Lederer and Manistee Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jordan Miller have also announced they are seeking the Republican nomination for Mason County prosecutor.
