Local grants help Habitat purchase AED.

AMBER TOWNSHIP — Habitat for Humanity’s Restore, 1916 W. US 10-31, recently purchased an automated external defibrillator (AED) with the help of funds from House of Flavors, Inc. and Pennies from Heaven Foundation. Volunteer Mary Besson, a former paramedic, is always mindful of safety and having the appropriate resources available for emergency preparedness and was instrumental in obtaining the AED, according to Jamie Healy, executive director of Habitat Humanity of Mason County. The funds were obtained as part of the Mason County Community Foundation’s annual Wish List and the Meet Us Halfway Match.

The unit has been installed in a central location and all staff and volunteers are participating in online training through American AED.
