County board to vote on resolution thanking health care workers.

LUDINGTON — The Mason County Board of Commissioners is expected to vote on a resolution Tuesday evening, Dec. 29, formally thanking “Mason County’s health care and elder care workers” in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The resolution reads as follows:

Whereas, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is a respiratory disease that results in serious illness or death, and is spread through close human contact, even between or among individuals who may be asymptomatic, and

Whereas, Mason County’s health care and elder care providers, including the staff and employees of Oakview Medical Care Facility, Medilodge of Ludington, Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital, area doctor’s offices, group homes, and home health care workers, have been busy caring for COVID-19 patients throughout 2020, dedicating countless hours to help combat the ongoing pandemic; and

Whereas, we all owe a great debt of gratitude to these local health care and elder care heroes who have dedicated their time and put themselves at great personal risk to treat and care for the sick and most vulnerable among us; and

Whereas, we can best assist our local health care and elder care heroes in the fight against COVID-19 by following common sense guidelines to prevent the virus’s spread, such as practicing social distancing and using appropriate face coverings; now therefore

Be it resolved, that the Board of Commissioners of the County of Mason expresses its deepest thanks and appreciation to Mason County’s health care and elder care heroes, including the staff and employees of Oakview Medical Care Facility, Medilodge of Ludington, Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital, area doctor’s offices, group homes, and home healthcare workers, for their unselfish commitment to battling the COVID-19 pandemic and delivering excellent care to our elderly and vulnerable citizens, and

Be it further resolved, that this resolution shall be made a permanent part of the official minutes of the Mason County Board of Commissioners meeting of December 29, 2020. Moved for your approval.
