LACA to host ‘An Intimate Evening w/ Fremont John’ Jan. 9
LUDINGTON — The Ludington Area Center for the Arts will present “An Intimate Evening With Fremont John” on Thursday, Jan. 9 as part of its monthly concert series.
Ludington resident Fremont John plays songs to inspire, lift-up and encourage. He writes songs of change, love, heartache and heartbreak, songs of deep introspection and lighter songs for hope and fun. Many tell a story, sometimes true and sometimes, not. These are acoustic songs that will both rock and mesmerize, songs designed to make you feel, happy, sad or simply curious; songs you don’t just feel but, experience. His major influence is simply, life.
Fremont John grew up in a very musical family where mom, brother and sister all played piano. He studied music theory, piano and trombone at Michigan State University. From there he joined a regional touring rock band, Inner Vision, out of Lansing and was opening for bands like Rush, Styx and Iron Butterfly. Then, it was out of music for several years for marriage and a “real” job at a bank. Some weekend bands came into the picture until the bug to go solo and move to Key West got ahold of him. That’s where the songwriting really started. He met NYC producer, Larry Baeder and went to NYC to record “Timeline” with some of the best studio musicians in the business. Read the liner, Google the names, you’ll get the picture.
“Fremont John is an important singer/songwriter today who is unknown to the masses but is recognized by a select group of musicians and industry people at the top levels,” said Larry Baeder, producer/guitarist (Carly Simon, The Temptations, James Montgomery, Chuck Jackson) .
An Intimate Evening with Fremont John will begin at 7 p.m. in the LACA performance hall, 107 S. Harrison St., in downtown Ludington. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the door or in advance by calling 231-845-2787.
