Clown Band to perform annual patriotic concert tonight.

SCOTTVILLE — The weather may actually hold out! Never fear, because it never rains on the Scottville Clown Band — except when it does. The band is scheduled to perform its annual Patriotic Concert tonight, 7 p.m., at the Scottville Clown Band Shell in downtown Scottville next to the Optimist Center.

The event will also feature hot dog and brat sales from the Mason County Eastern Athletic Boosters. The Clown Band will have a free will offering, with funds going into the George F. Wilson Memorial Endowment Fund, with the goal of funding the band’s student music scholarships. This year the Clown Band awarded over $6,000 in scholarships to students attending music camps, with the majority going to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.

As of 2 p.m., the weather forecast is calling for cloudy skies. The park grounds may be a little damp so attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

The Clown Band will continue its local performances on Independence Day, Thursday, July 4 beginning with the National Forest Festival parade in Manistee at 10 a.m. and then as the grand finale — as usual — of the Ludington Area Jaycees Freedom Festival Parade, which begins at 2 p.m. At the end of the parade, the band will put on a mini concert at the Ludington Beach House at the corner of Ludington Avenue and Lakeshore Drive and will then perform a show at the Ludington American Legion Post on North James Street. The Scottville Clown Band has been part of Ludington’s Fourth of July parade for over 80 years.
