79th District Court sentencings

LUDINGTON — The following were sentenced recently in 79th District Court:

– Bradley Alan Mann, 21, of 6690 E. Borowski Rd., Fountain, was found guilty by a jury Dec. 8 of two counts of aggravated assault. He was sentenced to two concurrent terms of 90 days in jail; one year discretionary jail for two years; must obtain a Hands-Down evaluation and follow recommendations; and $1,865 in fines and costs. Restitution is reserved. No contact with victims.

– Zachary Grey Wallace, 28, of 311 S. Staffon St., Ludington, was found guilty Dec. 9 of attempted assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer. He was sentenced to 20 days in jail with credit for 20 days served; one year discretionary jail for one year; no alcohol/drugs; subject to random preliminary breath tests (PBTs) and drug tests; and $720 in fines and costs.

– Waylin Ray Coolman, 18, of 410 S. Main St., Scottville, was found guilty Dec. 10 by the court of controlled substance, possession of marijuana. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail; 7411 revoked; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; $490 in fines and costs; must attend school with no unexcused absences/tardies;no alcohol/drugs; and random drug tests. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS).

– Andrew Joseph Chapman, 22, of 5847 E. Decker Rd., Fountain, was found guilty Dec. 9 of wildlife conservation – general violation. He was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for six months and $475 in fines and costs. Upon payment of fines and costs, discretionary term ends. One count of wildlife conservation – general violation was dismissed.

– Russell William Coolman, 49, of 3744 S. Masten Rd., Branch, was found guilty Dec. 9 of operating while impaired by liquor. He was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; $870 in fines and costs; Alcohol Highway Safety Education (AHSE); 93 days discretionary jail for one year; and must attend next session of the Victims Impact Panel (VIP). Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Jaralee Chaloux Sobers, 31, of 4716 N. Beaune Rd., Ludington, was found guilty Dec. 10 of second-degree retail fraud. She was sentenced to one year in jail with good time credits allowed and credit for time already served. Jail is concurrent with another matter, and restitution is reserved. Sobers was sentenced last week in 51st Circuit Court for unarmed robbery of the Scottville Admiral gas station. Related story here

– Darrin Maurice Morgan, 45, no address listed, pleaded no contest Dec. 9 to breaking and entering without owner’s permission and sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for two years.

– David Wayne Lindsley, 61, of 9024 E. Washington Rd., Branch, was found guilty Dec. 11 of illegally taking a deer and sentenced to $485 in fines and costs.

– Barbara Jean Vandervoorde, 60, of 5435 Griffin Rd., Fountain, was found guilty Dec. 12 of disorderly person – jostling. She was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year; no alcohol/drugs; $375 in fines and costs; random PBTs; reserve the right to order Soberlink; no contact with victims; and must have substance abuse evaluation and follow recommendations. Two counts of assault and battery were dismissed.

– Kyle Anthony Cogle, 22, of 1542 E. Filburn, Scottville, was found guilty Dec. 16 of wildlife conservation – taking a protected animal and sentenced to $475. One count of wildlife conservation – taking deer/bear/turkeys was dismissed.

– William Bailey Leeke, 45, of 821 Lake Ave., Racine, Wisc., was found guilty Dec. 16 of allowing a person to drive in violation and sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year and $285 in fines and costs. One count of driving while license suspended (DWLS), second offense, was dismissed. Bail/bond continued on remaining charge.

– Jessica Ann Sears, 22, of 408 N. James St., Ludington, was found guilty Dec. 16 of animal cruelty – abandoning one animal and sentenced to $285 in fines and costs. Must pay fines and costs within 90 days or serve 30 days in jail.

– Jeannette Arlene Harris, 57, of 418 E. US-10, Scottville, was found guilty Feb. 11 of third-degree retail fraud. She was sentenced to three days in jail with credit for three days served; 30 days discretionary jail for one year; and $135 in fines and costs.

– Jolene June Anderson, 21, of 2255 E. Gajeski Rd., Free Soil, was found guilty Dec. 16 of impaired driving. She was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; AHSE; $870 in fines and costs; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; and must attend next session of VIP. Conviction reportable to SOS.

Dismissal

– Stephanie Jo White, 31, of 208 N. Franklin St., Ludington, one count of stalking was dismissed Dec. 16. “Defendant has entered into a prosecutor’s deferment agreement,” court records state.
