LUDINGTON — A 42-year-old four-time habitual offender received a long-spanning prison sentence of one-and-a-half years to life for breaking and entering and larceny.

Scott Eric Phelps, of 504 E. Fifth St., Apt. 2, Ludington, received his sentence with the Michigan Department of Corrections from 51st Circuit Court Judge Richard I. Cooper, Sept. 2. Phelps, who was credited with 91 days served in jail, has been arrested three times within the last year on felony charges.

In separate cases, he pleaded guilty to larceny from a building and breaking and entering a building with intent July 8. Phelps was found guilty by the court of fourth-offense habitual offender in both files and received concurrent prison terms for each case.

Phelps’ criminal activity in the last two years:

– arrested March 11, 2014 by the Ludington Police Department for felonies of bond, absconding or forfeiting bond and habitual offender, fourth conviction.

– arrested Nov. 20, 2013 by LPD for larceny from a building.

– arrested Oct. 27, 2013 by LPD on felony counts of breaking and entering a building, larceny from a building and habitual offender, fourth conviction.

– found guilty in August, 2013 of open intoxicant in a vehicle/passenger. Sentenced to two days in jail and one year probation.

– found guilty Aug. 21, 2012 of larceny. Sentenced to 90 days jail, one year discretionary jail for two years and $760 in fines and costs.

One count of larceny from a building and one count of absconding or forfeiting bond were dismissed in plea agreements, Sept 2, and Phelps was ordered to pay $248 in fines and costs.
