Police assault yields jail term

Recent Mason County court sentencings.

LUDINGTON — A 23-year-old Pentwater man was sentenced in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday to one year in jail for a June 24 conviction of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer.

Kyle Alan Burchart of 6586 N. Ridge Rd. pled no contest to the charge. He was ordered to serve 90 days up front with the balance to be served at the court’s discretion and given credit for one day served. Work release is allowed if it meets Mason County Sheriff’s Office guidelines. He was also placed on probation for 18 months and ordered to pay $398 in fines and costs.

One count of habitual offender, second conviction, was dismissed.

 

District Court sentencings

LUDINGTON — The following were sentenced recently in 79th District Court:

– Kevin Quincy McKinney, 34, of PO Box 313, Idlewild, Mich., was found guilty July 29 of domestic violence. He was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend Hand Down program and follow recommendations; and $535 in fines and costs.

– Sean James McKenna, 21, of 207 N. Harrison St., Ludington, was found guilty July 29 of operating while impaired. He was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; Alcohol Highway Safety Education (AHSE); 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend next session of Victims’ Impact Panel; no alcohol/drugs; $870 in fines and costs; and subject to random preliminary breath tests (PBTs). Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS).

– Nikolai Brandon Fisher, 33, of 360 Quarterline St., Newaygo, was found guilty July 24 of passenger on ORV/not designed for and sentenced to $200 in fines and costs.

– Dawn Marie Fisher, 35, of 360 Quarterline St., Newaygo, was found guilty July 24 of passenger on ORV/not designed for and sentenced to $200 in fines and costs.

– Russell John Masse, 51, of 6565 W. Groth Rd., Ludington, was found guilty July 29 of controlled substance use, narcotic/cocaine. He was sentenced to one year discretionary jail for one year; must have a substance abuse evaluation and follow recommendations; subject to random drug tests; and $823 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of controlled substance possession, narcotic/cocaine, and one count of driving while license suspended (DWLS), second offense, were dismissed.

– Robin Jon Sarres, 56, of 1764 Patrick Henry, Scottville, was found guilty July 29 of operating while intoxicated, second offense. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail with credit for 24 days served; one year discretionary jail for two years; jail term concurrent with another matter; must attend Impact Weekend and follow recommendations; must have a substance abuse evaluation and follow recommendations; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; and $1,660 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Chassidy Ann Haynes, 26, of 7561 E. Beech St., Fountain, was found guilty July 29 of domestic violence. She was sentenced to 11 days in jail with credit for 11 days served; must continue mental health counseling; $665 in fines and costs; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; and no contact with victim.

– Jane Marie Manifold, 62, of 927 S. Lakeshore Dr., Ludington, was found guilty July 29 of third-degree retail fraud. She was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; $535 in fines and costs; and 93 days discretionary jail for one year.

– Brian Donald Stokely, 46, of 4157 N. Sherman, Ludington, was found guilty July 29 of operating while impaired. He was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; $870 in fines and costs; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend Impact Weekend and follow recommendations; no alcohol/drugs; and subject to random PBTs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Charlie James Washington, 51, of 8432 Connecticut, Baldwin, pled no contest to receiving and concealing stolen property and second-degree retail fraud. He was sentenced to one year in jail with credit for one year served; jail time concurrent with another matter; no alcohol/drugs; subject to random PBTs; and $1,245 in fines and costs.

– Taylyn Louise Leonard, 28, 317 H. Harrison St., Ludington, was found guilty July 30 of operating while intoxicated, second offense. She was sentenced to 31 days in jail with credit for one day served; must report Dec. 1 unless completes Impact Weekend and follows recommendations; one year discretionary jail for two years; no alcohol/drugs; $1,530 in fines and costs; must attend AA twice a week for two years; and subject to random PBTs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Robert Michael Brockwell, 46, of 4629 Benedict Rd., Ludington, pled no contest to domestic violence. He was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; $720 in fines and costs; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; no alcohol/drugs; and subject to random PBTs. One count of assault by strangulation was dismissed.
