Well Armed Women celebrates one year anniversary.

SHERMAN TOWNSHIP — The Well Armed Women Mason County celebrated its first-year anniversary  on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the Fin and Feather Club, 3276 N. Darr Road.  The group holds a monthly meeting on the third Thursday of the month from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fin and Feather Club and has grown from seven to 18 members. Members also meet weekly to shoot.

TWAW Shooting Chapters exist to educate, equip, and empower women in a safe and non-threatening environment for their effective and responsible self-defense with a firearm.

The Well Armed Woman (TWAW) Shooting Chapters is a non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization with currently over 345 chapters across the country in 47 states. Each local chapter has its own “character” and is encouraged to develop into its unique style while keeping with TWAW Shooting Chapters values and absolute commitment to safe firearm handling.

Karen Zimmeran, one of the chapter’s founders, said the group gives women of all experience levels the opportunity to be introduced to issues important to women shooters, learn safe gun handling skills, and train together.

Zimmerman and Susan McCray-King lead the group. McCray-King said the chapter is ready to grow.

Events are open to all women 21 years or older that may legally possess firearms.
