Strangulation victim suffers serious neck injury.

HAMLIN TOWNSHIP – A 29-year-old Ludington man was arrested on a felony charge of assault by strangulation and a misdemeanor of domestic violence causing serious injury Thursday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m. after Mason County sheriff’s deputies were called to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital’s emergency room for a female assault victim who was being treated for a “serious neck injury,” said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.
The alleged assault occurred in the couple’s home located in the 6500 block of Sassafras Road, where the suspect was arrested.
Assault by strangulation is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and domestic violence causing serious injury carries a one-year maximum jail term.
