SHERMAN TOWNSHIP — Ryan Joseph Quick, 32, of Branch, has been identified as the motorcyclist who died Sunday afternoon following a two vehicle crash.  The crash occurred about 12:19 p.m. when Quick was traveling southbound in the 3100 block of Reek Road, just over a crest in the hill, when his Harley Davidson motorcycle rear-ended a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by David William Baker, 28, of Fountain. According to Sheriff Kim Cole, Baker had slowed down for a dog in the road.

Quick was transported to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Sheriff Cole said speed and alcohol cannot be ruled out as factors during the early stages of the investigation, and toxicology tests have been ordered for both drivers. Quick was not wearing a helmet.

Emergency crews responding to and assisting with the crash included Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Fountain Area Fire Department, Pere Marquette Township Fire Department, and Life EMS.
