Alleged drunken drag racers identified.

LUDINGTON — The three suspects who were arrested following a drag race on South Lakeshore Drive in Summit Township Monday night, Oct. 16, that resulted in both vehicles crashing have been identified by police.

Megan Brown, 25, of Shelby and Alberto Ramirez, 22, of Ludington were in the car that went off the road and hit the tree, according to Sgt. Eric Soneral of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office. Brown was driving,

and Ramirez was the passenger. They were both charged with first-offense operating while intoxicated, and bond was set at $2,500/10 percent.

Brayden Chavalia, 23, of Scottville was the driver of the car that rolled over and was also charged with OWI with a bond of $2,500/10 percent.

All three suspects have posted bond and are released from jail, Soneral said.

The first crash occurred at Sunset Road and was reported at 11:05 p.m. Chavalia reportedly lost control of his vehicle while racing Brown; the vehicle left the road and rolled over. He was treated for minor injuries at the scene and then arrested by sheriff’s deputies.

The second crash was reported at 11:30 p.m. at Meisenheimer Road when a Jeep Wrangler driven by Brown left the road and struck several trees after Ramirez reportedly grabbed the wheel and jerked the vehicle off the road into several trees, according to the sheriff’s office. Ramirez was treated at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital for minor injuries, before being transported to jail.
