BRANCH TOWNSHIP — A 46-year-old Wapakoneta, Ohio man driving a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban ran over a bear on US 10 near Campbell Road early Monday morning, Sept. 11, after a semi truck had hit the bear, according to a Mason County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

The man was westbound on US 10 and “watched a bear get hit by a semi,” the report states. “(He) did not have time to avoid the bear and ran it over,” the report states. There was no obvious damage to his vehicle, and the driver was not injured.

The crash occurred at 4:42 a.m. on the dark, unlighted roadway.
