Off-duty deputy spots reckless driver wanted on 5 warrants.

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — An off-duty Mason County sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle driving recklessly through the McDonald’s parking lot Friday, July 21, at 4:56 p.m. and witnessed the vehicle’s axle breaking causing the front tire to nearly fall off, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.
The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old Twin Lake man, was arrested for second-offense driving while license suspended (DWLS) and on five outstanding warrants for failure to appear. Three warrants were issued in Oceana County; one in Wexford County; and one in Muskegon County, Cole said.

– 9:18 p.m., (MCSO), a 33-year-old Walkerville man was arrested on an outstanding civil warrant issued in Oceana County for failure to appear, 5100 block of South Pere Marquette Highway, Summit Township. MCSO is seeking charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of narcotics, assault and possession of a switch-blade knife against a 23-year-old Ludington man after deputies were called to an assault/threats complaint.

Saturday, July 22, 2017:
– 5:31 a.m., (LPD), disturbance, 500 block of East Danaher Street, City of Ludington.
– 9:40 a.m., (LPD), domestic assault, 500 block of North Lavinia Street, City of Ludington.
– 11:17 a.m., (MCSO), a 38-year-old Scottville man was arrested for second-offense DWLS and on an outstanding Friend of the Court warrant issued in Kent County following a traffic stop, East River Road and Main Street, Village of Fountain.
– 3:53 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle hit-and-run crash, no injuries, M116 south of the Ludington State Park, Hamlin Township. A 22-year-old Ludington man was arrested a short time later for operating while intoxicated (OWI) and leaving the scene of a non-injury crash.
– 9:41 p.m., (MCSO), car/motorcycle crash, with injuries, Lakeshore Drive and Jagger Road, Hamlin Township. A 26-year-old Twin Lake man was unable to stop the vehicle he was driving southbound on Lakeshore Drive and struck the back of a motorcycle, which was slowing to make a left turn onto Jagger Road. The collision knocked both occupants off the motorcycle, causing non-life threatening injuries.

– 10:24 p.m., (LPD), reckless driving, 200 block of East Ludington Avenue, City of Ludington.
Sunday, July 23, 2017:
– 2:56 a.m., (LPD), domestic assault, 900 block of North Emily Street, City of Ludington.
– 6:33 a.m., (MCSO), a 44-year-old Ludington man was arrested for car theft and DWLS after deputies responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Hawley Road near Scottville Road, Riverton Township. Deputies determined that the vehicle also had previously rolled over on Kistler Road near Scottville Road and had been stolen from a residence in the 6300 block of Barnhardt Road in Hamlin Township.

– 4:16 p.m., (LPD), disturbance, 1000 block of North Robert Street, City of Ludington.
