Suspect allegedly steals ex-girlfriend’s car to attend court hearing.

CUSTER — A male suspect was arrested for probation violation after allegedly stealing his ex-girlfriend’s 2001 Pontiac Sunfire in the 300 block of South Madison Street Thursday morning, July 20, and then driving it to Grand Rapids for a court hearing, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The car was reported stolen Thursday at 9:52 a.m. in the Village of Custer, and it was recovered in the Kent County Jail parking lot, Cole said.

Other police activity Thursday, July 20, in Mason County includes:

– 10:03 a.m., (Ludington Police Department), domestic assault, North Lavinia and East Fitch streets, City of Ludington.

– 6:22 p.m., (LPD), domestic assault, 1000 block of North William Street, City of Ludington.

– 8:36 p.m., (LPD), disorderly person, 100 block of East Ludington Avenue, City of Ludington.

– 9:30 p.m., (Michigan State Police), a 37-year-old Shelby man was arrested for operating while intoxicated, Pere Marquette Highway and Oceana Drive, Summit Township.

– 10:05 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injuries, Custer Road south of Dewey Road, Sherman Township.
