PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested two suspects on numerous weapons charges early Monday evening, Nov. 16, following a seven-month investigation that involved obtaining information from the suspects’ cell phones, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

A 29-year-old Scottville man was arrested on a five-count warrant charging him with receiving and concealing firearms; two counts of felony firearms; conspiracy to commit felony firearms; and firearms possession by a felon, according to Cole. The suspect is being charged as a four-time habitual offender.

A 24-year-old Scottville man was arrested on a three-count warrant charging him with receiving and concealing firearms; felony firearms; and conspiracy to commit receiving and concealing of firearms, the sheriff said.

The investigation started as a result of a traffic stop March 16, 2015 at 9:16 a.m. in Pere Marquette Township in which a 20-year-old man was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of a stolen handgun. “Over the course of the next several months, search warrants were executed on cell phones belonging to those involved.
