Man remains hospitalized after Ray’s break-in

LUDINGTON — A 59-year-old Ludington remains hospitalized after he was caught trying to break out of Ray’s Auto-Marine, 801 S. Washington Ave., Wednesday morning. The man apparently had broken into the building and was attempted to exit when he got caught in a window. A charter boat captain discovered him.

The man was taken by ambulance to Memorial Medical Center where he was admitted and remains.

Ludington Police Capt. Mike Harrie said police do not believe the man’s motive was to steal anything.

“We believe it was a combination of medical conditions and alcohol,” Harrie told MCP. “He was delusional and disoriented and he didn’t know where he was. We have seen this behavior in this person before.”

Harrie said the case has been turned over to the prosecutor’s office to determine if the man will be charged with a crime.
