Position Summary:
Manages the planning, implementation, and monitoring of financial and quality standards of the Hospital Laboratory. Establishes and maintains laboratory service plans, policies, and procedures. Develops short and long-term goals and strategies. Develops, implements, and maintains the annual operating budget. Provides overall direction for billing and coding compliance. Keeps new and revised regulatory and compliance policies/procedures in place to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Interacts and consults with physicians and clinical employees regarding compliance and laboratory testing. Engages in administrative functions such as equipment and vendor evaluation and contract reviews. Maintains a presence in the regional hospital laboratory network. Markets laboratory and pathology services. Participates in hiring of employees. Leads, mentors, and develops employees. Works cooperatively with other departments and disciplines to facilitate multi-disciplinary, patient centered care.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
Education –  Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related field (based on Spectrum Health entity)
Experience – 5 years of experience typically gained through skills/knowledge/abilities in related technical experience in all areas of general laboratory (based on Spectrum Health entity)
Technical expertise and demonstrated experience as a Medical Technician
Medical Technologist – Certified from ASCP (MT)
Current registration by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or National Certifying Agency (NCA)

Preferred Qualifications:
Education – Master’s Degree in Medical Technology or a health care related field is preferred
Knowledge of CAP Regulations
Department Supervision of 20+ staff members and Change Agent experience
