Journalist/Multimedia Editor

Media Group 31, owner of Mason County Press and Oceana County Press, is seeking a part-time JOURNALIST/MULTIMEDIA EDITOR.

Join the leading news organization in Mason and Oceana counties. Our team is growing and in need of a team player who understands small town, online journalism. Media Group 31, LLC is the only locally owned news organization in Mason and Oceana counties. 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of two years journalism experience, preferably in print.
  • Must have photography and videography experience. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of AP Style.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere or comparable video editing software
  • Proficiency in WordPress 
  • Good communication, people and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of geographical, governmental, educational, and cultural aspects of Mason and Oceana counties. 
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule that is based on tasks more than consecutive hours worked. 
  • Must be able to report on hard news, including the ability to travel to emergency scenes in various weather conditions and various times of the day and night. Must have the ability to build a working relationship with law enforcement and fire department personnel. 
  • Must own a laptop computer and smart phone.
  • Must have reliable transportation. 

This position is a freelance/subcontracted position with the expectation of 15 to 20 hours of work per week. There is a potential for those hours to increase.
