Employment Opportunity: Community Development Director

The City of Scottville is seeking an innovative, self-motivated professional to fill the role of Community Development Director. This position will serve as part of the management team and report directly to the City Manager.

The Community Development Director initiates, creates and is accountable for the successful implementation and continuous improvements of plans, programs, and ordinances. The Director facilitates and meets objectives established by City Commission and City committees including Downtown Development Authority, Ordinance Committee, Personnel, Rules, and Ethics Committee, and Planning Commission. The Director performs required duties outlined in Scottville municipal code; works with the local business community to retain, expand and recruit as well as market grant, loan, and assistance programs, advises special event committees; serves as the city’s code enforcer and zoning administrator.

An associates degree with coursework in public or business administration, urban planning, or a related field with at least 3 years of experience in economic development, community development, or urban planning is preferred. A valid Michigan driver’s license is required and must be maintained throughout employment
