Director of Bands, Hart Public Schools

REQUIRED:

  • Michigan Teacher Certification (JQ or JX in Music Education)
  • Criminal Records Check: By law, the selected applicant is required to complete a criminal records check.  This will be at the prospective employee’s expense and kept on file at the Central Business Office.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful teaching and classroom management experience
  • Demonstrate expertise and knowledge in all facets of teaching              instrumental music

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach instrumental music bands to students in grades 6-8 and 9-12 at Hart Public Schools.
  • Teach marching band to Senior Band students.
  • Inspire young musicians to continue in band and show them the benefits to their success.
  • Establish classroom procedures and routines. Monitor student progress and establish academic requirements for each class including but not limited to attendance, grades and behavior.
  • Coordinate and supervise extracurricular activities for students such as local parades, concerts, pep bands, festival participation and other community event participations.
  • Integrate technology into teaching and professional activities in NEW BANDROOM setting.
  • Establish and maintain an electronic instrument inventory and music library.
  • Coordinate fundraisers for music department use.
  • Create and implement rigorous lesson plans, including necessary accommodations for students as needed.
  • Create and maintain effective communication with parents.
  • Maintain MSBOA membership requirements.

Location: Hart High School

Estimated Starting Date: May 2021

Reports to: HS and MS Principals 

Salary: Salary in keeping with the salary schedule as negotiated with the Hart Board of Education
