Sally Burmeister
Sally B. Burmeister, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on June 28, 2025 at the age of 90.
In 1955, Sally married the love of her life, Van. Together, they shared a life full of love, music, service, and family.
Sally and Van settled in Ludington in 1965, where she became an active member of the community. She was deeply involved with the Community Church in Ludington, where she served on several boards and shared her passion for music through the chancel and bell choirs. Her musical talents also extended to the Melodiers Women’s Barbershop Chorus, Sweet Adelines, 16th Century Singers, West Shore Community College Choir, and the Ludington Recorder Group. When her children were young, Sally helped with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Later in life, she volunteered with the OAKS program, CROP Walks, and numerous local initiatives. Sally truly enjoyed the company of those she met through all these activities and made many lifelong friendships.
Sally also found joy in art and the outdoors. She enjoyed sewing, sketching, painting, reading, skiing, ice-skating, and hiking. A lifelong learner and creative spirit, she delighted in walks in the countryside and exploring the Ludington State Park with family and friends.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Alice; her son, Larry; and her sisters, Jeanne and Janet.
She is survived by her husband, Van; her children, Robin (Greg), Connie (Mike), Terri, and James; and her sister, Carol. Sally was a loving grandmother to Amie, Hannah, Jacob, and Sally; Noah and Sage Elise; and Adam and Emma. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her warmth, vibrant spirit, and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.
A private family remembrance will be planned for a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sally’s memory to the Community Church of Ludington or the charity of your choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel.
“My life flows on in endless song; Above earth’s lamentation,
I catch the sweet, though far-off hymn, That hails a new creation. No storm can shake my inmost calm While to that Rock I’m clinging; Since Christ is Lord of heav’n and earth,
How can I keep from singing?” Robert Lowry, 1869.
