
Loretta Barber
Loretta Rita Barber went to be with her husband Buz (Harold) Barber on Tuesday June 24, 2025. She was born August 21, 1928 in Ludington to Stanley and Julia (Ramsc) Tomczak. She was always happy and smiling. Loretta was born and lived in the same house until her death. Loretta and Buz were married September 17, 1949.
Loretta graduated from St. Simon High School of Ludington and has been a lifetime member of St. Simon Parish. She very much enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. She also enjoyed gardening, swinging on the porch swing with the grand kids. The neighborhood kids always knew where to come to be fed. Her life size cardboard cutout of John Wayne stands proudly in her dining room as she was one of his biggest fans, with various John Wayne memorabilia displayed throughout the house.
Loretta is survived by her daughter Julie Knodel of Ludington; son Buzzy (Lisa) Barber of Free Soil; her grandchildren Jamie (Don) Bedker, Brandon Barber, and Justine Parks; her great-grandchildren, Anastasia Parks, Sidney Morford, Remington Barber and Arthur Dinius.
Loretta was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband Buz (Harold); her daughter Jackie Worsham; her grandson Adam Barber; sons-in-law William Knodel and Jim Worsham; and her siblings.
A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 11 a.m .at St. Simon Catholic Church with Rev. Wayne B. Wheeler, Jr. presiding. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions in Loretta’s memory may be directed to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Lakeshore Animal Friends.
