‘The defendant was engaged in ongoing trafficking of this poison in large amounts.’

Henderson
LUDINGTON — A 20-year-old Muskegon man was sentenced to five to 20 years in prison for four felony counts of delivery/manufacture of heroin in Mason County’s 51st Circuit Court, Oct. 13.
Javion Dkari Henderson pleaded guilty to all four counts, Aug. 4. Four additional counts were dismissed.
“The amount of heroin he sold for the four offenses to which he pled was nearly 100 grams,” said Mason County Prosecuting Attorney Beth Hand.
“The defendant did not appear to be a user of this substance. Oftentimes, drug dealers allege their sales were out of desperation to support their own addiction. Here, the defendant’s motivation appeared to be solely the lure of easy money — greed, which has landed him in the Michigan Department of Corrections for a minimum of five years. The defendant was engaged in ongoing trafficking of this poison in large amounts. He was profiting from others’ misery and addiction for his own financial gain. It cannot be understated that the quantity mentioned above, while occurring over a period of time, was an aggregate quantity supplied to just one individual. It defies all sense to assume that the defendant had only one customer — in this case the undercover officer. The true extent of his operation is not fully disclosed through this investigation.
“The repeated message is this: sell drugs in Mason County and you will be held accountable,” said Prosecutor Hand. “There are consequences for your actions and feeding on the addiction of others for personal gain is intolerable. The citizens of Mason County do not want drug dealers bringing their poison into our county. Stay out!”
Judge Susan K. Sniegowski sentenced Henderson to concurrent terms of 11 months to 20 years and five to 20 years in prison, along with $9,442 in fines, costs and restitution.
