Sheriff’s office to offer free violent incident survival training

RIVERTON TOWSHIP — The Mason County Sheriff’s Office will offer a free community safety training program Monday, Sept. 21, focusing on how to respond during violent incidents.

The “Surviving Violent Incidents” program will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the St. Paul Church Activity Center, 3212 W. Kinney Road.

Sheriff’s deputies will discuss recognizing potential threats, situational awareness, law enforcement response and ways to help others during a crisis. The training will also cover “run, hide, fight” strategies for responding to an active threat.

The program is intended for community members, business owners and employees, school and church groups, and others interested in personal safety.

There is no cost to attend.

Registration is requested by calling St. Paul Church at 231-843-3275 and leaving a name on the church phone.
