LUDINGTON — A 62-year-old Custer man accused of pointing a rifle at a farmer along a property line was arraigned Thursday, Sept. 10, in 79th District Court at the Mason County Courthouse.
Scott Aldon Martinchek was charged with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, also known as felonious assault.
According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, Martinchek was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 9, after deputies responded about 4:30 p.m. to the 3700 block of East US 10 in Custer Township. Martinchek allegedly pointed a rifle at another man who was operating a farm tractor along a property line. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail following his arrest.

District court records indicate Martinchek was given a $500 bond with a 10% deposit requirement. The bond was posted Friday, Sept. 11, and Martinchek was released from custody.
Martinchek is represented by Ludington attorney James A. Marek.
A probable cause conference is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 1 p.m. before 79th District Court Judge John David Middlebrook. A preliminary examination is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 1:30 p.m.
Felonious assault is a felony punishable by up to four years in prison and/or a fine of up to $2,000 under Michigan law.
Martinchek is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
