Ludington plans sanitary sewer replacement near Gaylord Avenue

August 18, 2026

LUDINGTON — The City of Ludington will begin work later this month on a sanitary sewer replacement project in the alley between Ferry Street and Gaylord Avenue.

The project will extend from Pere Marquette Street to Haight Street and is intended to replace aging sanitary sewer infrastructure and improve the reliability and long-term performance of the city’s sewer system.

Work will include removal and replacement of the existing alley pavement, replacement of the sanitary sewer main, reconnection of sanitary sewer laterals and restoration of the alley when the project is complete.

Site preparation is expected to begin the week of Aug. 24, with installation of the new sanitary sewer scheduled to begin the week of Aug. 31.

The project is expected to take approximately four weeks, depending on weather and site conditions.

Residents in the area may encounter restricted alley access, construction equipment and noise, as well as temporary traffic or parking restrictions during the work. The city and its contractor plan to maintain access to residences whenever possible while minimizing disruptions.

Motorists traveling through the work area are being asked to slow down and use caution around construction equipment and workers.
