BRANCH TOWNSHIP — The Mason County Land Bank Authority is accepting applications from income-qualified buyers for two newly constructed homes in Branch Township that are being offered through an affordable homeownership program.
The program includes a three-bedroom, two-bath home at 41 S. Stephen Ave. and a two-bedroom, two-bath home at 43 S. Stephen Ave. The homes are intended for purchasers with low- to moderate-income households who are able to obtain financing.
The three-bedroom ranch home, listed at $283,000, offers 1,387 square feet of living space and is available to households with incomes between 110% and 120% of the area median income. The two-bedroom ranch home, listed at $264,000, offers 1,144 square feet and is available to households with incomes between 55% and 60% of the area median income. Both homes feature modular construction on crawl space foundations.
The listed prices do not reflect available subsidies. Instead, final purchase prices will be adjusted so buyers have an affordable mortgage payment that is no more than 29% of the purchaser’s gross monthly income.
To remain eligible for the program, buyers must use the home as their primary residence. Land contracts, reverse mortgages and renting any portion of the home or property are prohibited. Homeowners also must maintain insurance coverage and remain current on mortgage payments and property taxes throughout the duration of the program.
Applications are available through the Mason County Land Bank Authority on the Mason County website, www.masoncounty.net. Completed applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Home showings may also be arranged. For more information, contact Andrew Kmetz at 231-843-8411.
