AMBER TOWNSHIP — U-Win Motorsports recently donated $2,600 to Hand 2 Hand, a program of Mason County Reformed Church that provides food and supplies to children and families in the Mason County Central and Mason County Eastern school districts.

The donation was generated through a yearlong community-giving campaign launched as part of U-Win Motorsports’ 25th anniversary celebration. The business has pledged to donate $25 from every repair work order completed during the promotion to a local nonprofit organization.

Hand 2 Hand serves more than 140 children from preschool through 12th grade each week through packages of food and essential supplies. The program was founded in 2012 by the late Pastor Rick Van Haitsma of Mason County Reformed Church. Following his death in 2013, Mary DeWys assumed leadership of the program and has overseen its continued growth.

Initially serving a dozen elementary students, the program now reaches children throughout both school districts and has expanded support to high school students. Volunteers assist with packing and delivering weekly food packages, while many also participate in the church’s Kids Hope mentoring program.

According to DeWys, the program’s mission extends beyond feeding individual children.

“That was very important to Pastor Rick,” DeWys previously said. “This is a program that is meant to benefit and strengthen families.”

U-Win Motorsports, located at 2284 W. US 10-31, announced the anniversary promotion earlier this year as a way to celebrate the company’s milestone while giving back to the community.

“This year marks a big milestone for us at U-Win Motorsports,” owner Dan Quinn said when the campaign was announced. “We’re celebrating 25 years in business, serving riders, boaters and families right here in our community. And with our nation approaching 250 years, we wanted to turn that celebration into something that truly gives back.”

The promotion applies to service and repair work completed at the business, which services boats, personal watercraft, ATVs, side-by-sides and other recreational equipment. Company officials said additional anniversary promotions tied to new unit sales and continued nonprofit support are planned.

In May, the Ludington American Legion received $1,800 from U-Win.

Quinn said the goal of the campaign was to combine customer service with meaningful contributions to organizations that strengthen the local community.
