LUDINGTON — Families are invited to kick off the summer season with a day focused on bicycle, boating and water safety during the Waves & Wheels Safety Day on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
The free community event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Loomis Street Boat Launch in Ludington and is presented by the Ludington Police Department and Shoreline Force.
Organizers say the family-friendly event is designed to promote safe biking habits and water safety awareness while offering hands-on activities and demonstrations for children and parents.
Activities planned for the event include free bike safety inspections, helmet fittings and giveaways, bicycle obstacle and skills courses, water and boating safety education, and rescue demonstrations from first responders.
Families will also have opportunities to receive free life jackets and other safety gear while supplies last.
Additional attractions include children’s activities, literacy booths, prizes, and complimentary hot dogs and ice cream.
Sponsors supporting the event include Filer Credit Union, MSU Extension/4-H, Great Start Collaborative, House of Flavors Inc., West Shore Community College, Safe Kids West Michigan, Shoreline Cycling Club, Spindrift Cyclesports, Trailhead Bike Shop, Riding for Ryan, Life EMS and Ludington Meat Co.
