LUDINGTON — Ludington’s girls soccer season came to an end Wednesday night with a 3-2 loss to Reeths-Puffer in a Division 2 district semifinal at Ludington High School.
The Orioles trailed 1-0 at halftime before Reeths-Puffer added a second goal early in the second half to build a 2-0 advantage.
Ludington answered when Avra Bowman scored off an assist from Hestyn Stowe to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Reeths-Puffer’s Jaslyn Kops later scored to give the Rockets a 3-1 lead. The goal set the school record for goals in a season for Kops and proved to be the game-winner.
The Orioles made a late push when Hestyn Stowe scored with three minutes remaining off an assist from Grace Forfinski to make the score 3-2, but Ludington was unable to find the equalizer.
Ludington finished with eight shots on goal while Reeths-Puffer recorded 10. Orioles goalkeeper Cambria Britton made seven saves.
Ludington finished the season with a 12-7-1 overall record and a 9-1 mark in conference play.
