LUDINGTON — The Ludington junior varsity softball team dropped a doubleheader to Cadillac on Thursday at Oriole Field, falling 16-6 in the opener and 18-0 in the nightcap.

“We dropped a doubleheader to Cadillac at Oriole Field tonight by scores 16-6 and 18-0,” Ludington coach Maggie Bates said.

Ludington battled through the first three innings of the opener before Cadillac pulled away.

“The first game we battled back and forth the first three innings and then they just got a jump on us and we couldn’t get the runs back,” Bates said.

Mayra Martinez led Ludington offensively, going 2-for-2. Peyton Greene, Vivian Terryn and Rayne Holtrust each added a hit.

In the second game, Ludington struggled to generate offense against Cadillac pitching.

“In the second game we had a hard time getting our bats going,” Bates said.

Martinez and Greene each recorded a hit for Ludington.
