LUDINGTON — Ludington moved one step closer to an outright West Michigan Conference championship Tuesday night, defeating Hart 3-0 in girls varsity soccer action.
With the win, the Orioles improved to 11-5-1 overall and remained unbeaten in conference play at 9-0, clinching at least a share of the WMC title.
Hestyn Stowe led Ludington offensively with two goals, while Grace Forfinski added another. Assists were credited to Eloise Kwietniewski, Leeahna Veeneman and Stowe.
Cambria Britton recorded the shutout in goal for the Orioles, making three saves on three shots on goal.
Ludington Coach Kris Anderson said the Orioles continue to build momentum heading into the postseason and are embracing the opportunity that comes with competing for a conference championship.
The Orioles travel to Traverse City on Thursday for a non-conference matchup against Division 3 state-ranked No. 8 Traverse City St. Francis. Ludington then closes the regular season Monday with a conference showdown against second-place North Muskegon.
