LUDINGTON — An attempt was made Sunday to salvage a sunken commercial fishing boat from a channel on Pere Marquette Lake.
The commercial fishing vessel Sandy remains submerged in the channel near the Washington Avenue bridge.
The boat had been docked on city-owned property between Lake Street Marina and Thompson Marina. The Princess of Manistee had been docked nearby for the winter in a location that appeared to block access to the Sandy.
A crane truck was on site Sunday, but the small group attempting to recover the vessel appeared unsuccessful.
The Sandy previously sank in 2013 and again in 2016.
Last year, the vessel Eagle sank and was later recovered.
