Mark Dean
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Earl Dean, who left this world peacefully at his home in Ludington, on Monday, April 27, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Ludington, on April 5, 1962, Mark lived a life rich with love, laughter, and dedication to family and community.
Mark was born to the late Richard and Sharon Dean, who have predeceased him, along with his infant sister, Beth Ann Dean, and cherished grandson, Mason Lee Renwick. Despite the losses he faced, Mark’s spirit remained unyielding, and he was a beacon of warmth and kindness to all who knew him.
Mark’s life was deeply rooted in his love for his family. He was the beloved fiancé of Beth Renwick, with whom he shared a beautiful journey since 2011. Together, they raised a loving family and enjoyed the blessings of parenthood and grandparenthood. Mark leaves behind his cherished children, Cameron (Sandra) Renwick and Dani Renwick with Mike Dittmer, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. His legacy continues through his nine adored grandchildren: Kailee, Blake, Daniel, Luna, Angel Mae, Luke, William, and Joyce, who were the light of his life.
He is also survived by his devoted siblings, Kari (Steve) Beste, Ninajo (Jimmy) Wallace, and Kelly (Renee) Dean, who shared in his life’s joys and challenges. His memory will be fondly cherished by his niece and nephew, Chad Dean and Bethany (Tyler) Haner, and his great-nieces and nephews, Logan Dean, Ellen, Haiden, and McKenzie Haner, who brought him endless joy.
Mark’s dedication to his country and community was evident through his service in the United States Army from 1981 to 1984. His bravery and commitment were recognized with the Medal of Honor and the Physical Fitness Award, reflecting his strength and perseverance. After his military service, Mark worked as a machine operator at Floracraft for 14 years, where he was respected and admired for his unwavering work ethic and camaraderie.
An avid sports enthusiast, Mark found joy in golfing, bowling, and playing co-ed softball. His love for adventure was epitomized by his rides on his motorcycle, where he felt free and alive. However, his greatest passion was spending time with his family and grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Mark had a unique gift for brightening the lives of those around him. He had an infectious smile that could uplift anyone’s spirits, and his life was a testament to happiness and positivity. He had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel special and valued, leaving a legacy of love and laughter that will endure.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be held on June 27, 2026, from noon-4 at Memorial Tree Park in Ludington (Pere Marquette Township). We will gather to remember a remarkable man who touched so many lives with his kindness and generosity.
