Dorothy Krause
Dorothy J. Krause, 99, of Manistee, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at the Medilodge of Ludington. She was born in Milwaukee, Wis. on Jan. 2, 1927, the daughter of the late Ella Cilman and Herman Yanke.
She was a graduate of Kaleva High School, also La Parent Academy of Beauty in Grand Rapids; was an operator for several years, and in the later years worked for the Glen of Michigan.
Dorothy married Albert Krause on Feb. 1, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Onekama. Albert preceded her in death in August of 2002.
She loved going to jazzercise for 15 years with her friends, also walked many years at the Armory and at the walking track at the new high school. Summer time was busy with her garden and the many flowers she had. Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Manistee.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Linda Krause of Manistee, Ken and Debra Krause of Interlochen; one daughter Elaine Danks of Ludington; also six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Krause, in August of 2002; her mother Ella Cilman and her son-in-law, Patrick Danks, in December of 2022.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Manistee, with Reverend Dennis Rahn officiating. Burial will follow at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, also in Manistee.
The family will receive friends at the church on Friday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m.
Those wishing to remember Dorothy, are asked to consider a gift in her memory, to Trinity Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran School. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or at the church on Friday afternoon.
