Thelma “Jean” Jensen Ohse, 87, of Custer passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026.  Jean was born on July 29, 1938 in Lapeer, the daughter of Leslie and Kathryn (Weir) Conant.  Her family moved to Mason County where she grew up and attended Custer schools, graduating high school with the Mason County Eastern class of 1956.  She was first married to Kenneth Quick, whom she shared four children with, and later married Arthur Jensen in 1980.  She and Art celebrated 19 years together before he preceded her in death in 1999.  Recently, Jean was reunited with her former classmate Richard “Dick” Ohse and they married in 2022 cherishing each day together.

Jean worked several years as a teller for Safe Harbor Credit Union in Ludington but was better known wearing her signature red jacket selling Mary Kay Cosmetics throughout the Mason County area.  Jean loved to knit and made mittens and hats for the “Mitten Tree” along with beautiful calendars she blessed her family with every Christmas.  She was a skilled seamstress and altered numerous wedding and prom dresses through the years.  Jean loved puzzles of all kinds, especially word search puzzles, often sharing them with her friends and family.  Her faith in God provided her a strong foundation throughout her life.  Jean enjoyed her weekly Thursday Bible studies and monthly women’s meeting at First Methodist Church of Scottville, where she has been a longtime member.

Along with her husband Dick, Jean will be greatly missed by her children Jim and Dawn Quick, Dean and Laura Quick all of Custer, Rodney Quick of Kalkaska, and Cheryl and Dan Gage of Fountain; her stepchildren Rick and Joy Jensen of Ludington, Robert Ohse of Custer, Richard Ohse Jr. of Grand Rapids, and Richelle VanderWal of Hudsonville; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; her brother William “Bill” and Sharon Conant of Fremont; her sister Susan Septrion of Fountain; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many great friends.

Along with her husband Art Jensen, Jean was also preceded in death by her stepdaughter Christine Schwartz; her grandchildren Nichol Quick and Jason Quick; her great-granddaughter Aria Warmuskerken; her sister Elizabeth Conant; and her brothers Ronald, Robert, and Joseph Conant.

Funeral services will be held for Jean at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6 at First Methodist Church of Scottville with Pastor Wayne Boughan officiating.  Friends may meet with her family on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.  Those who wish to remember Jean with a memorial donation are asked to please consider First Methodist Church of Scottville.
