LUDINGTON — Water and dedicated volunteers are essential for the Ludington Petunia Parade’s 32,000 flowers to bloom each year along Ludington Avenue and the municipal marina.

On May 16, the Rotary Club of Ludington will expand its participation in the annual Petunia Parade tradition through an EPIC Day of Service project.

The club aims to raise $5,000 to help the Ludington Petunia Parade reach its $75,000 goal to purchase a newer watering truck. Rotarians also plan to assist other teams in planting flowers.

The Rotary Club of Ludington has long planted and maintained a block of petunias along the western boulevard of Ludington Avenue and will continue that effort this year.

Partnering with the Petunia Parade is part of Rotary’s EPIC Day of Service — “Everyone Participates in Communities” — a global initiative uniting clubs and community members in service projects.

“We are proud to partner with the Ludington Petunia Parade during our EPIC Day of Service,” said Bob Vipond, incoming 2026-27 Rotary Club of Ludington president and project leader. “We want to support the watering truck capital campaign to ensure petunias continue to line our boulevard for years to come.

“Volunteers begin work at 4 a.m. each day, driving the watering truck along Ludington Avenue to keep the petunias healthy,” Vipond said. “This truck is essential to the parade, and a reliable vehicle is critical to its success. A newer truck is needed to sustain the project.”

Community members and organizations are encouraged to help the Rotary Club reach its $5,000 goal. The first $2,500 donated will be matched by the club.
