PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — The Mason County Board of Commissioners will consider approving a new ambulance service agreement with Life EMS Inc. during its monthly meeting Tuesday, April 14.
The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the Mason County Airport Terminal conference room, 5300 W. US 10.
The proposed agreement, listed under the board’s Public Safety and Courts Committee business, would authorize continued paramedic-level ambulance services for Mason County residents through Life EMS, a Grand Rapids-based provider that operates throughout West Michigan.
Commissioners are expected to review and vote on the contract as part of a broader set of public safety resolutions. The agreement is a key component of the county’s emergency response system, working in coordination with local fire departments and the Mason-Oceana 911 dispatch center.
The ambulance contract comes as the board also considers placing a renewal millage on the ballot for additional road patrol services, highlighting ongoing funding and service discussions related to public safety across the county.
In addition to the ambulance agreement, commissioners will address several other major agenda items, including approval of the county’s 2026 equalization report, which sets property values used for taxation, and consideration of a renewal millage request for the Mason-Oceana 911 emergency answering and dispatch service.
The board will also hear annual reports from Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, Veterans Affairs Director John Cotten and Senior Services Coordinator Susan Evans.
Other business includes discussion on relocating the county’s Emergency Operations Center, approving a preliminary 2027 budget, and authorizing participation in a national opioid litigation settlement.
