SCOTTVILLE — After their Final Four appearance in the fall state championships, the Mason County Central High School Mario Kart team, the Omega Spartans are determined to return and compete for the state title.
The Spartans are starting off the spring season and their “Return to States” tour with some impressive wins. With a 2-0 victory over Woodhaven High School, The MCC Mario Kart remains undefeated on the season. Thursday’s victory marks the second time in three months that MCC has beaten the former state champions. The Omega Spartans are now ranked No. 1 in the state. Heading into the midpoint of the season next week, MCC has a potential matchup against the defending state champions Waverly High.
“We are a stronger and deeper team than we were in the fall,” said co-coach Tim Danielson. “We had some key additions return and during the off season the team created a discord channel and increased their communication all on their own. It is really exciting to see how much they have increased their teamwork and strategy compared to just a few months ago.”
The Omega Spartans play on Thursdays at 4 p.m. in room C2 of the high school. Competitions are free and open to the public.
