Obituary: Katherine Joy Devers, 63, of Ludington

Katherine Joy Devers, 63, of Ludington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at her home surrounded by love.

Born October 10, 1962, in Marion, Katherine—affectionately known as Kathy or Kitty Kat—grew up in Cadillac, attended Marion Public School, and made Ludington her home in the 1980s, where she would build a life filled with love, laughter, and service to others.

Kathy gave birth to her first child, Eric, in 1982 in Michigan. Shortly after, she moved to Arizona, where she married her lifelong partner, Timothy, in 1985. The family grew with the birth of her daughter Nichole in 1987, and they soon returned to Michigan, where daughter Ashley was born in 1988.

A natural social butterfly, Kathy found her calling as a waitress—a career that brought her immense joy throughout her life. She loved getting to know her customers, sharing stories, laughter, and kindness with everyone she met. Her warmth and genuine care for others shone brightest during her more than 20 years serving at Big Boy of Ludington, where she built countless meaningful connections and touched many lives.

Katherine is survived by her devoted husband, Timothy Devers; daughters Nichole Devers her son Mason and Ashley Devers, and her children Ayden, Daxtin, Drake, and Gattlen; grandparents Linda and Bobby Oyler; their children Tammy and Robbie/ aunt Jo-Ann Courville Weston; nieces Kayla and Kein Danks and their son Kolson/ Amanda and Caleb Sherman and their children, Haily, Damien, and Kalighmay/ Angela and Chuck Brooks, and their children, Trent, and Teanna/ Sarah and Josh Moses, and their children, Dominick, Zachariah, Jordan, Payton/ Kiley Schrader and her children, Drew, Christian, and River, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her son Eric; parents Gale and Linda Berger; and siblings Cherrie, Max, Keith, Kim, and Debbie.

Katherine’s free spirit and zest for life were evident in everything she did. She enjoyed attending NASCAR races, tending to her garden, camping with family, cheering at Kid Rock concerts, and preparing delicious meals. She was particularly known for her famous peanut butter fudge and special cheese balls. Her deeply caring nature, kindness, and warm hospitality made everyone who knew her feel truly loved and welcomed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Danish Brotherhood, 1014 S. Madison Street, Ludington.

Memorial contributions may be made to her husband, Timothy Devers.
