Debora Kay (Pierce) Maglothin, 69, of Ludington, died Tuesday November 25, 2025, at Corewell Health Ludington Hospital, where her loving husband held her hand. “A lady always knows when it is time to leave.”
Debora was born to William R. Pierce and Lillian M. (Bryant) Pierce on October 14, 1956, in Ludington where she lived her life. She graduated from Ludington High School on June 6, 1974. Shortly after graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, David G. Maglothin, on August 17, 1974. Debbie and Dave shared and celebrated 51 years of marriage.
Mrs. Maglothin, Deb, Debbie, Debora, Hub, Mom, Gram was a beautiful soul that was loved by many. She was everyone’s cheerleader and second mom, not only at every sporting event but in life. Her eyes would light up when she had the chance to watch Brynn play softball. She showed her kids unwavering support by always being there regardless of any storm. She taught all her kids, adopted sports kids and grandchild that “pain is only temporary,” “hard work pays off,” “play hard to win but do it with grace and humility.” She wanted the best for all of us, always.
She was a pillar of strength if anyone felt weak. She was the support system for anyone if someone felt they did not have one. Debbie had an exceedingly kind and gentle heart. She was caring, in that, if someone was sick, she went out of her way to help them and their children. Debbie was also a charitable soul by contributing back to the community through donations.
Family was important to Debbie. She had a fierce love for her family, especially her granddaughter, Brynn. She worked extremely hard to ensure the house ran smoothly and made every holiday special for each family member. She simply had a way to make everything good whether it was an activity, trip or holiday. She loved the spirit of Christmas, the intimacy of the lights, the spirit of holiday music but even more so, the joy, laughter, and love that it all brought to the family. She loved family time be-it the holidays, outdoor picnics, camping, the beach, shelling, hiking, photography, watching Brynn singing or down time playing Yahtzee and Pokémon.
Debora “Debbie,” “Deb” or “Hub” is survived by her husband, David “Dave” Maglothin; her daughters Ami Maglothin and Tanya Maglothin; and her granddaughter Brynn Fortner.
Debbie joined her parents, William, and Lillian (Bryant) Pierce; sister Dianne (Pierce) Petzak; brother Robert “Bob” Pierce; several aunts and uncles along with her fur-children Charley, Marley, Sam, Tiger, Buck, and many others in heaven.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, at Grace Funeral Home at 3 p.m. with Rev. Wayne B. Wheeler, Jr officiating. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution in memory of Debbie to Mason County Mutts, PO Box 74, Ludington, MI 49431.
