Man arrested on five warrants, three felonies following high-speed chase

VICTORY TOWNSHIP — A 42-year-old Ludington man was arrested on five warrants, along with felony charges of fleeing and eluding police, resisting and opposing police and cocaine possession, following a high-speed chase Tuesday night, Oct. 21, that began on Sugar Grove Road, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

During the chase, the suspect’s 2014 GMC pickup truck reached speeds of 100 mph, said Sheriff Cole. After abandoning the truck, the man was tasered by a deputy as he was attempting to run away.

“At 10:45 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, a Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted a traffic stop on Sugar Grove Road west of US 31 in Mason County’s Victory Township,” states Cole in a press release. “The traffic stop was related to a person who had multiple warrants.

“The suspect vehicle, a 2014 GMC pickup truck, failed to stop. The suspect vehicle turned northbound on US 31 to Beyer Road; then westbound on Beyer Road to Quarterline Road. The vehicle then went eastbound on Fountain Road to Amber; southbound on Amber Road to Stiles Road. During the chase, the suspect vehicle reached speeds of 100 mph.

The suspect fled on foot after abandoning the vehicle. During the foot chase, the suspect was tasered. The suspect, a 42-year-old Ludington man, was arrested on charges that included flee and elude, resist and oppose, possession of cocaine and five outstanding warrants that included four criminal bench warrants for failure to appear on dangerous drug charges and probation violation.”
