SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central High School will celebrate homecoming Oct. 12-17 with a variety of activities, including spirit days, a powderpuff football game, tractor parade, homecoming parade, football game and dance.

This year’s homecoming theme is “Spartans of the Wild,” with each high school class assigned a different theme for decorating its hallway. Freshmen will decorate with a savannah theme, sophomores with an under-the-sea theme, juniors with a woods theme and seniors with a rainforest theme. The secondary complexes will also celebrate spirit week with their own themes.

The week’s activities will culminate Friday, Oct. 16, when the Spartans host the Hesperia Panthers at 7 p.m. at Spartan Community Field. The 2026 homecoming king and queen will be crowned during halftime.

The homecoming court includes representatives from each class.

Senior court, Class of 2027: Queen candidates: Trinniti Arnold, Ashlyn Lewis, Alexis Sanford, Rian Whiteside; king candidates: Darnell Hunter, Ethan McVicker, Justin Resendiz and Richard Bowen.

Junior court, Class of 2028: Evan Merz and Adria Bruursema

Sophomore court, Class of 2029: Caleb Failor and Aliana VanHoven

Freshman court, Class of 2030: Joseph Thomsen and Merrick Tacktor

Students will vote for homecoming king and queen early in the week.

Homecoming spirit week will feature a different dress-up theme each day. Monday, Oct. 12, will be Deep Sea Dreams, with students encouraged to wear pajamas. Tuesday will be Tropical Tuesday, featuring neon colors and Hawaiian attire. Wednesday will be Savannah Safari, with students encouraged to wear khaki and animal prints. Thursday will be Farmer Day, featuring farm attire and flannel, while Friday will be Spartan Friday, with students wearing blue and gold.

A powderpuff football game featuring junior girls against senior girls will take place Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 6:30 p.m. at Spartan Community Field. Admission is $1, with proceeds benefiting the student council to help cover homecoming expenses and keep dance ticket prices down. Concessions will be available.

The annual tractor parade will take place Thursday, Oct. 15, beginning at 2:45 p.m. The Scottville tradition begins at the high school and will travel north on Reinberg Avenue, east on Maple Street pass Scottville Elementary, north on Loomis Street, then west on Beryl Street where it will pass the middle school and upper elementary.

Friday’s activities will include a spirit assembly during the afternoon, followed by the homecoming parade through downtown Scottville.

The parade will begin at 5 p.m. at the corner of Main and Second streets and travel north to Beryl Street and west to Spartan Community Field. Class floats, homecoming court members, the MCC Spartan Marching Band and other participants will be featured.

The Spartans will face the Panthers at 7 p.m. Members of the homecoming court and foreign exchange students will be recognized during halftime, when the king and queen will be announced and crowned.

Homecoming festivities will conclude Saturday, Oct. 17, with a semi-formal dance from 8 to 11 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
