VICTORY TOWNSHIP — West Shore Community College will explore the growing intersection of artificial intelligence and mental health during its next HumanKind event, “Mental Health and AI,” at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, in Tech Center rooms 113/115.
The event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Stephan Taylor, professor and chair of psychiatry at the University of Michigan, will lead the discussion on ways artificial intelligence is changing the world and its potential impact on mental health.
Taylor describes AI as a disruptive technology that is creating new opportunities while also raising important questions and concerns. He will examine some of the potential benefits of AI for mental health, along with risks and challenges that may accompany its increasing use.
The presentation will encourage attendees to consider how rapidly evolving AI technologies may influence the way people understand, access and experience mental health care and support.
The HumanKind Series is WSCC’s arts and culture lecture series and offers a variety of programming throughout the year, including presentations, workshops, film screenings, art exhibitions and performing arts events.
